About the role

As a bench jurist, you will work with qualified legal tasks under your own responsibility. Together with an engaged team of case handlers, judges, and notaries, you will contribute to ensuring that cases and matters are handled legally and efficiently. The work is varied, social, and requires both structure and flexibility – perfect for you who thrive in a dynamic environment.

Main responsibilities

As a bench jurist, you will:

  • Handle cases and matters.
  • Prepare cases and conduct legal investigations.
  • Take notes and record minutes during hearings and inspections.
  • Present cases for decision.
  • Write proposals for decisions.
  • Communicate with parties and the public via phone and in writing.

Requirements

  • Law degree and notarial qualifications.
  • Good legal knowledge and strong analytical skills.
  • Good computer skills, including the Office package and other document management systems.
  • Good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish and English.

Merits

  • Education in land and environmental law.
  • Experience with qualified legal work at a court, other authority, or private business.
  • Experience with administrative cases and the legal areas of the Land and Environment Court.
  • Category B driver's license, as the work involves some travel with overnight stays.

About us

With our more than 100 employees, Växjö District Court is considered one of Sweden's larger courts. In November 2026, we will move together with the Administrative Court in Växjö into a completely new court building with modern and functional premises, advanced technology, and the highest environmental certification – an investment that creates good conditions for future operations. We are continuously working on organizational issues and emphasize the importance of active employee engagement with a focus on responsibility, commitment, and participation.

Växjö District Court is divided into four judging divisions, two in the general court and two in the Land and Environment Court. The main task of the Land and Environment Court is to handle environmental cases, property cases, cases according to the Planning and Building Act, and water and wastewater cases. At the Land and Environment Court, we are about fourteen bench jurists and environmental notaries working together. Our work group is a dynamic and engaged team that values cooperation and openness. Practical information

The advertisement concerns both fixed-term and permanent employment, starting with a six-month probation period. Selection is ongoing, and the position may be filled before the application deadline.
